When the words Choy Lay Fut are mentioned many training devices come to mind. The Wallbag, Staff Dummy, Leg Dummy, Copper-Man Dummy and Wooden Dummy just to name a few. The Choy Lay Fut Wooden Dummy is very different from the Mook Yan Jong or Wing Chun Wooden Dummy. The “Ching Jong” as it’s known in the Choy Lay Fut Clans has a single arm at the top and two arms forming a V in the middle. This is the total opposite for a Wing Chun Wooden Dummy where the top arms form a V and the middle arm is a single arm. Another major difference is that the Ching Jong’s top arm is spring anchored and moves up and down when the practitioner strikes or grabs it. In ancient times the top arm was actually controlled with a rope and a heavy sand bag which worked like a weight on a scale balance. This is how the Choy Lay Fut Wooden Dummy got to be known as the “Balanced Dummy” or “Ching Jong”. Sandbags or rice bags are mounted on the front and sides which are used for striking and to condition the practitioners hands and fingers. Just like all of our other dummies, our Ching Jongs are 100% handmade in our Fort Myers Florida location. Each dummy is custom made and can be fitted to your unique size and height. The main body “trunk” is 6′ tall and 7″‘wide by 7″ deep. This dummy features an adjustable lower leg with 3 length settings, A heavy duty 3″ round top arm, round middle arms with a 3” diameter at the beginning and then tapering off to 2”) and a leg designed for all of the abuse that you can dish out. The upper moving arm has a heavy duty spring for maximum tesion and spring reliability. Our Choy Lay Fut Ching Jong comes with a freestanding base that measures 2 1/2 feet wide by 3 feet deep with a large heavy duty post that the jong slides down onto. This unit is incredibly stable and ultra portable. Additional weight or sandbags etc. can be added in the rear of the base tray for additional stability.
