I wanted to post a quick note about the upcoming Kung Fu Championship that’s being held at Disney on November 4th through the 6th. It’s being held by the ICMAC. The official website is kungfuchampionship.com I attended the one earlier this year that was held at the Gaylord Palms Resort and there was a lot of different styles of Martial Arts on display. They also had an entire day of fights which was really cool to watch. One of my Wing Chun Si-dai’s fought in the heavyweight division using JKD which is his primary art and did really well. It was really great to see various different Martial Arts Styles squaring off against one another. This upcoming event is going to be filled with various different demonstrations as well as numerous different contests. There is supposed to be a Chi Sau tournament as well. Anyways, we’re (Shaolin House) thinking about taking a booth at the event to showcase our Wing Chun Dummies and our JKD Dummies. If you’re in the area or you have the ability to attend the event please stop by and say hello. I’d love to meet you and perhaps we can work the wooden dummy form as well. See you then……
Well we finally got around to releasing our new “Trapping Arm Dummy“. And let me tell you what…this thing is awesome. There are so many different types of drills that can be practiced on it. If you practice Wing Chun Kung Fu or JKD then you need to get one of these. Having the ability to practice on and improve your traps is what separates the good from the great. It never gets tired and it’s always ready for you to practice with it.
Here’s just a few highlights about the unit. It’s got a heavy duty spring loaded arm thats 18″ long, the body is 8″ wide by 30″ long, it’s made out of solid hardwood, and it comes with an attached striking pad. It’s a very good looking unit as well. It’s not like all of the others that looks like a metal bar attached to a spring. This thing actually looks great. It “looks” like a wooden dummy, not some home-made garage contraption.
I’m going to be posting a few videos in the very near future demonstrating a few of the various different techniques that can be practiced on it. Until then…Train Hard!
